I've spent a lot of time studying how image-making has worked across history, from botanical illustration to manga to Golden Age portraiture to woodblock printing and modern art. The way different traditions use line, texture, and composition to carry weight is something I keep coming back to. My own work pulls from all of that, not to replicate any one thing but to see what happens when those influences mix with whatever I'm personally drawn to at the time. Characters with whole lives behind their eyes, creatures that sit somewhere between biology and imagination, quiet scenes that hold more than they show. Every piece is me working something out through image.
