BAGGU

This was a pattern design project for Baggu, where I sourced public-domain paintings to create original repeat patterns. For the first design, I was drawn to the density of the forest and the way the trees layer and overlap in old landscape paintings, creating this natural, almost infinite repeat on its own. I worked with that, spinning the work and stitching it together, letting the darkness and depth of the woodland advance across the surface of the bag.

The floral pattern came from a different instinct less about depth and more about composition. I looked at how the flowers were arranged within the painting and used that existing structure to build the repeat, so the pattern feels intentional without being rigid. The shapes and colors of the original work carry over in a way that still feels like a painting, just wrapped around something you carry to the grocery store.
